Hola! If you’re looking for ways to make the most of your Sundays in Valencia, you’re in the right place! Here are five ideas for spending a great Sunday and in passing practising your Spanish. Here we go:

1. Relax in the Turia Gardens

The Turia Gardens are the green lung of Valencia. You can have a picnic, ride a bike, read, run or just lie in the sun and relax. It’s a great place to unwind. There you’ll surely meet lots of locals to practice your Spanish in a relaxed atmosphere.

IVAM (Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno): If you like contemporary art, this is the place for you. It offers exhibitions of modern and avant-garde artists.

Centro Cultural del Carmen (CCCC): A former convent converted into a cultural centre with contemporary art exhibitions and cultural activities.

4. Go hiking nearby Valencia

Valencia not only has wonders in the city, but also in its surroundings. Here are some nearby hiking routes that we think you would enjoy:

Ruta del Agua en Chelva: An easy and beautiful route that follows the course of the river Chelva. Ideal for a day in nature and practising Spanish with other hikers. In Chelva, about 68 km from Valencia.

Parque Natural de la Sierra Calderona: With multiple trails offering spectacular views and a “good dose of fresh air”. Perfect for a day trip and located about 30 km from Valencia.

Ruta de los Puentes Colgantes: It is a simple route that takes you across hanging bridges and canyons. It’s perfect for lovers of adventure and photography. It is located in Chulilla, about 60 km from Valencia. The views are breathtaking, but be careful if you suffer from vertigo!

5. Enjoy the sunset in L’Albufera

The Albufera of Valencia is a protected natural area that offers spectacular views. There’s nothing better than going there, (it’s just a few kilometres from the city), taking a boat ride and enjoying the tranquillity of the place. And if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to listen to the locals talk about the history and nature of the Albufera.
