Let’s go there!
Reading a good book
Whether in paper or digital format, reading a book is one of the pleasures we spend little time on.
Although sometimes we tend to put it low on our list of priorities, reading good books leads us to reflect and get a deeper understanding of the human mind, of history or of societies.
In some cases, books also provide us with the possibility of traveling through imagination to real or imaginary places.
A good book is a very good companion … we can spend time with it well dressed, in pajamas or in a nightgown.
So, this weekend, go ahead and face the pile of books that lies on your nightstand!
On the one hand, we encourage all of our students of the Spanish course to read the great classics of Spanish literature.
On the other hand, if you are passionate and constant readers but you have not had time to catch up on the latest literary news, here you find a list of the 50 best books of 2019 according to El País. You will find books by both Spanish and international writers.
By the way, we encourage you to read everything in Spanish 😉
Watching series in Spanish
Watching series and documentaries has become one of the most common and engaging hobbies.
Furthermore, series and documentaries in their original version help us improve our knowledge of a foreign language.
Therefore, we encourage all of the students of our Spanish school to watch Spanish series in the original version. In this way, your understanding of Spanish will improve fast and you will learn many words and typical expressions.
In addition, by watching some of the Spanish series, you will get familiar with historical events, cultural customs and idiosyncrasies of Spanish society. Here find some suggestions 😉
Preparing new recipes
If you are fond of cooking but you hardly have any time to prepare elaborate dishes, the time has come! If you like Spanish cuisine, we challenge you to prepare typical Spanish recipes by following the instructions step by step.
If your knowledge of local gastronomy only includes paella and buñuelos, here you can find a complete listing of Valencian cuisine recipes.
Virtual Museum Tours
Do you miss your weekly dose of culture? In this case, we advise you to enjoy virtual tours of most important museums in the world.
Sitting comfortably in your living room, you will be able to discover unique art collections in essential destinations of world cultural tourism. Among the museums that offer virtual tours there is the Hermitage (Saint Petersburg), the British Museum (London), El Prado (Madrid), La Galleria degli Uffizi (Firenze) and many more.
It is possible to take the tour by accessing the website of each of the museums.
Making crafts
Making crafts is one of the most effective and fun hobbies. It is a very creative way to recycle and reuse materials in order to decorate and personalize homes.
How? For example, reusing plastic bottles to make a vertical garden. Here you find more ideas with instructions.
Board games
If you get bored easily at home, board games are an effective and entertaining solution.
Also, board games allow us to spend time with our family and friends, share strategy or learn how to cooperate and work as a team. Among the multitude of board games, we prefer cooperative games and, of course, all the games that focuses on the use of language and communication.
In this regard, there are many who will allow you to practice Spanish by enriching your vocabulary and improving your communication skills. Among them, we recommend: Story Cubes, Scattergories, Letter by Letter, the Dixit, Taboo, etc.
An effective way to have a good time learning and practicing your Spanish with fun.
Finally, there are so many ways to make the most of your time at home. For example listening to new music albums, doing yoga or meditation or arrange your wardrobe 😉
From El Rincón del Tándem Spanish school we encourage you to take advantage of your time at home to continue learning Spanish.
