This month La Cabina Festival will take place in Valencia. That will be a unique opportunity to enjoy an international selection of medium-length films and premieres. El Rincón del Tándem tells you more in this blog 🙂
We continue to highlight cultural initiatives that we find interesting and that allow us to expand our horizons and enrich our minds. This time we talk about La Cabina Festival.
La Cabina is the international medium-length film festival of Valencia. A festival that is already a reference both in Spain and throughout Europe for being the only one that is devoted to this format.
Being halfway between the short film and the feature film, the medium-length films consist of movies between 30 and 60 minutes long. Although that is the less recognized and produced format, very talented filmmakers are dedicated to it worldwide.
Therefore, this festival has the honour of contributing to the dissemination of this film genre through an event that covers cinema in all its aspects.
This XVII edition will take place from the 21st and 29th of November and invite us to live 8 days of projections and other activities.
To begin with, this Thursday 21st, at 8.30 pm, La Nau Centro Cultural will host the opening of the festival. During this event, the funny French comedy Notre Dame de la ZAD will have the honour of opening the projections program.
The films selected for the festival are divided into three categories:
– Official section composed of 15 medium length-films (La Filmoteca)
– Amalgama, which includes 11 medium-length films mostly with a social and political focus (La Nau)
– Inèdits, a very special section in which 5 old films by affirmed directors will be screened. Among the unpublished, it is worth mentioning films by directors such as FrançoisTruffaut, Jonas Mekas and Helena Taberna. (La Nau)
The programming is enriched thanks to the cultural variety, represented in the film selection. In fact, the programming foresees films from France, Argentina, Sweden, United States, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, etc.
Furthermore, among the initiatives promoted within the festival, it is worth mentioning the II Edition of the Fashion Film Barreira. That is, a special category dedicated to this innovative fashion communication tool that has been increasingly used.
The medium-length film directed by the Italian director Luca Guadagnino The staggering girl and produced for Valentino, will open this special session on November 24th at La Filmoteca.
The festival also provides a series of parallel activities, such as the morning sessions Matinal en familia with movies for kids.
Besides, we also recommend Videopoesía. Presente y futuro en España (November 23rd at 7 pm at La Nau). An original genre that harmonically blends words and images and that we invite you to get to know by attending the video poems session.
Finally, we also highlight that the price of tickets varies from 1.50 to 2.50 euros per session. A very affordable price to make good cinema reach all the audience without any barrier 🙂
