Altough the Fallas start in February, the main events are happening from 15th till 19th of March in Valencia. In today’s article we will present you the timetable of the most important happenings in the city.
La Plantà
The festivities begin with ‘planting’ the Fallas monuments in the streets of Valencia. Planting of the children’s Fallas takes place in the morning of Thursday 15th of March, whereas the rest of the Fallas will be planted either at night the same day or on Friday 16th in the morning. Also the Ninot exhibition is closing on Thursday and later that day the Ninot Indultat and the Ninot Indultat Infantil will be declared– the most popular parts of the Fallas monuments that people voted for during the exhibition that will be saved from burning.
Offering of the Flowers (Ofrenda de Flores)
Ofrenda de Flores is a traditional parade during which the falleros in their traditional clothes bring flowers to Plaza de la Virgen where a huge wooden construction of Virgin Mary has been raised. The flowers later form the dress of Virgin Mary. The parade takes place on 17th and 18th of March from 4 p.m. till 1 a.m. If you are anywhere near the city center, you won’t miss it.
Fireworks
Since Thursday you can watch spectacular fireworks (castillos) every night at Paseo Alameda. The timetable is following:15th of March at 00:0016th of March at 1a.m.17th of March at 1 a.m.18th of March at 1:30 a.m. – the biggest visual fireworks called Nit de Foc (The Night of the Fire)
Illuminated streets
There are two main light shows in the streets of Ruzafa. The first one on the streets Sueca and Literato Azorín and the second one belongs to Fallas committees Cuba and Literato Azorín. Check the timetable of the light shows here.
Cabalgata del Fuego
There will be a carnival of fire on 19th of March at 7 p.m. going from Ruzafa to Colón and ending at Puerta de la Mar, because fire is the main protagonist of The Fallas. You will see the participants in costumes, hear loud music and firecrackers.
La Cremà
19th of March is the last day of The Fallas when all the Fallas are being burnt down.
