Friday has come and so some plans for the weekend. Do you want to know more? Check out the blog of our Spanish school El Rincón del Tándem.
Although the weather is getting quite cold, that not discourages us from going outside and enjoying Valencia.
Therefore, we propose to all our students of the Spanish course some plans for the weekend.
Here below find our suggestions…
Guided tour to San Miguel de Los Reyes
Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th at 1.00 pm
Monasterio de San Miguel de Los Reyes, Avenida de la Constitución, 284
Free tour with no reservation
As everybody knows, Valencia is a city rich in history and culture. His artistic-cultural heritage is so big that we never stop knowing it thoroughly.
This weekend we invite you to make some time to visit a fundamental place of Valencian history.
San Miguel de Los Reyes is a Heronymites monastery whose origin dates back to the 16th century.
Before being a monastery, it was an Islamic farmhouse that was occupied by the Order of Saint Jerome, then renovated and expanded under the patronage of the Duke of Calabria and the Vicereine Germana de Foix.
Over the centuries, the place has had different functions, becoming a prison for the opponents of Francoist dictatorship and then a public school in the 70s and 80s. Today, it is also the headquarters of the Valencian Library Nicolau Primitiu that collects important books and documents of great historical and cultural value.
Therefore, thanks to these guided tours, we will be able to immerse ourselves in past times, getting familiar with the history of Valencia. Tours are free and do not need prior reservation.
Are your ready to take a trip back to the past?
