The long-awaited spring has finally arrived in Valencia…Our Spanish school, El Rincón del Tándem, gives you some suggestions to enjoy these next warm spring days in the capital of the Turia 😊
After a few weeks of rain and cold, we can finally celebrate the arrival of spring in Valencia…
If you still have no plans for the weekend, let the blog of our Spanish school inspire you. Among the various events scheduled over the next few days, we have selected a few.
Take a look below for more details…
Solidarity concerts for Ukraine
Friday 8th and Sunday 10th
These two concerts are part of a solidarity initiative organised by the Juntos por la Vida Foundation.
Juntos por la Vida is a Valencian NGO that carries out humanitarian work. It is currently operating on the Polish-Ukrainian border, providing emergency aid to refugees fleeing war.
This weekend, solidarity will be channelled through live music:
The first concert will take place at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Auditori Alfons Rog). Friday 8th of April at 8.30 p.m.
The second concert will take place as part of the Festival de Coros de Semana Santa de Llíria (Parroquia de la Asunción de Llíria). Sunday, 10th of April at 6.30pm.
All donations from the concerts will be used to defray the costs of the humanitarian action carried out by the Foundation in favour of refugees.
Gramáticas gastronómicas. Poliglotía
Saturday, from 12pm to 5pm
IVAM, Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno, Calle Guillem de Castro 118
Gramáticas gastronómicas is an initiative that encourages dialogue and encounters between cultures through gastronomy.
In the workshops developed as part of this proposal, food becomes another way to explore new worlds and flavours and thus reflect on migration, identity and our reactions to the unknown.
Saturday’s workshop will focus on the theme of the Afghan diaspora and will be led by Afghan chef Najib Miri.
The workshop will use an experimental methodology and tools, including a box of secret ingredients and audio-visual and linguistic applications.
Finally, the session will end with a tasting of traditional Afghan recipes.
The activity has limited capacity, so it is necessary to register through the museum’s website.

The cultural space Casa de Patraix celebrates Book and Language Month with a series of literary meetings.
This initiative, which has the support of the Valencian Association of Valencian Writers and Critics and Bibliocafé, proposes a collective and interactive way of discussing literature and presenting works.
The days will be rich in presentations, forums, talks, recitals and literary workshops, led by around 20 writers and various publishers.
If you are passionate about literature or if you are a professional writer, don’t miss this unique opportunity to find inspiration and share your passion with others.
Detailed information about the programme can be found on the Casa Patraix website.
Finally, we would like to remind you that until Sunday 10th the programme of the contemporary dance festival Dansa València continues with shows and performances in theatres, non-conventional spaces, squares and parks of the city.
We hope that our suggestions will help you celebrate the arrival of spring in Valencia, with music, gastronomy and culture.
As always, our Spanish school, El Rincón del Tándem, encourages you to practice your Spanish outside the classroom and in informal, everyday situations.
Have a good weekend and see you soon!
